I know I’m mentally not better yet, when I’m not sleeping well and scouring the online bookshops for something new to buy. Book shopping is my retail therapy and the last few days are all about that. This time it’s all about e-books, but still. I’ve bought quite a few of them already, and I crave even more. This is how my TBR-pile gets so big.
No i wpadłam, ciągle tylko „Madmuazelka” @grazyna_plebanek. Przy głaskaniu kota i przy kawie, przy śniadaniu i na rowerku stacjonarnym. Najchętniej bym się od niej nie odrywała, ale przerwy muszą być. Nie na życie, tylko na myślenie o tym, co się tam dzieje, co autorka mówi pomiędzy wierszami, bo wydaje mi się, że mówi dużo i ciekawie, tylko czy ja to na pewno wszystko słyszę?
Last week was all about rest, this one is about easing into the daily rhythm, getting back to writing and routine. All in hope of not having a shock reaction when I’ll go back to work next week.
One more week of holidays and these are my plans for it. I’m halfway through Hot Milk so I hope to start Life After Life after that.
Slow Sunday morning
I freed myself from under Alice to have breakfast and to read a few pages of Hot Milk by Deborah Levy, before going for a walk.
I shouldn’t have read this book now, when I’m still on the tail end of a depressive episode. It made me feel worse. I know that a lot of people will tell you that this is a hopeful book. For me it’s full of despair, sadness and resignation. It didn’t feel like a life affirming story, it felt like a message to resign yourself to the life you have.
I’ve chosen a new bike yesterday! It was a long process of convincing myself that it’s okay to ride on a e-bike and saving money for it. At the end I’ve decided that e-bike is the way to fulfil at least one part of my life’s vision, of me going (almost) everywhere on the bike.
What a mind! This book made me laugh and think some big thoughts.
