Life vision

You hear me talk (see me write) about my life vision quite often. How I connect to it in the times of doubt, how I check with it when thinking about new project, when I connect to it in the times I don’t know anymore why I’m doing what I’m doing. But what is this life vision?

Life vision is your big picture of life. It is something you dream of. It is the end situation (although you may never reach it), it is what your life will look like if you live by your values and pursue your passion. It is your creative life the way you want it to be.

Ask yourself the following questions:
How do I want to live my life?
What do I want my days to look like?
Does it match my values?

Write it down, by hand, on paper. Your brain works differently when you write by hand than when you type. Writing by hand gives your imagination time to work out your image. It doesn’t have to be beautiful, it is only meant for you.

Don’t limit yourself. Everything is allowed. Let go of all expectations. Those of others, but also of your own. Don’t think about what you can or what is possible. Just think about how you want it. Think of your deepest desire.

Your vision is something you always see before you, something you strive for, but not necessarily will and must achieve. It is your vision and you don’t have to share it with anyone.

Imagine the ideal image and keep your values in mind. If your vision does not match your values, it becomes impossible to pursue it. It is also possible that your vision makes it clear to you that your values are different than you thought. Maybe something is different or something should be added? Go back, give yourself the time to look at your values again and determine what these are. Then go back to your vision. Does it feel right, now? Is it complete? Is it something that makes your heart beat faster?
